Shevington Wins RHS Britain in Bloom Gold

Shevington in Bloom beat off competition from thousands of groups across the UK to win the coveted Gold Award as well as joint category winners.

IKO’s Managing Director, Andy Williamson said, “IKO is always pleased to support initiatives such as these in our local community and we are delighted that Shevington has taken the top prize – a testament to the group’s hard work and dedication.”

Margaret Carter, Co-ordinator for Shevington in Bloom said, “After all the hard work we are overjoyed that we are a category winner.”   She also received the Britain in Bloom community champions award from the RHS for exceptional commitment and dedication to improving the green spaces in her community.

Commenting on Shevington’s work, judges Jeff Bates and Ian Beany said; “The tour of the town was a joyful experience throughout, not only is it clear that Shevington in Bloom is transforming spaces, but also that it is enhancing lives of the people who live in the community.”

IKO supported Shevington in Bloom with funding for the competition and was recognised with a plaque, which takes pride of place in the main flowerbed in the centre of the village.
