The IAT Conference, hosted by the Pennines Branch of the IAT on 17th-18th June was again well attended by a broad spectrum of delegates from across the asphalt industry making for stimulating debate and interesting conversation.
The IKO exhibition stand, designed to illustrate the various application permutations of the IKO Permatrack system utilised a series of models which enabled delegates to understand (in more detail) the component parts of the various Permatrack systems, which range from highway repairs and bridge expansion joints to flood defences.
The IKO Permatrack stand was well attended by delegates, some of which were enlightened to find a business that shared the same views on the use of Mastic Asphalt as a premier product for use as bridge deck surfacing. This typical application unfortunately seems to have been forgotten in today’s bridge construction industry, but IKO Permatrack is determined to keep flying the Mastic Asphalt flag.
Another interesting talking point arose from a conversation with Highways England, again with regard to use of mastic asphalt as a bridge deck surfacing and the potentially positive impact this material can create.
Presence at the Presidents Dinner gave everybody the opportunity to further interact with many IKO Permatrack clients and other industry delegates on a more informal basis, the ideal setting to once again discuss the merits of Mastic Asphalt within the Highways and Civils arena
