IKO has released an online Q&A to coincide with the rebrand of its highway and ironwork repair solutions.
‘IKO Road’ provides a single point-of-service division for advanced mastic asphalt waterproofing products previously covered under the company’s Highways and Civils banner.
The story behind the rebrand and how customers are likely to benefit from the move are revealed in an interview with IKO’s Sub-Divisional Sales Manager, Wayne Perrin.
During the short but insightful video which is available via YouTube, Wayne also offers a range of guidance on mastic asphalt regarding its installation, as well as his thoughts on current issues such as improving road repairs and the UK government’s ‘build, back better’ pledge.
Wayne, who has 40 years’ experience in the mastic asphalt industry said: “The video offered a great opportunity to outline in the clearest possible terms the reason behind the rebrand. IKO has long enjoyed a reputation as an innovator in mastic asphalt materials, and IKO Road is a great example of that progressive culture.”
“The video was fun to be involved with. I think viewers will not only gain greater insight into the IKO Road range regarding how, where and when its products will prove most effective, they will hopefully benefit from my advice on mastic asphalt and why its popularity as a waterproofing and surfacing solution remains undiminished.”
Ideal for inlaid crack repairs, bridge joints, patching, bridge surfacing and ironwork reinstatement, products within the IKO Road range are mastic asphalt based and therefore contain relatively high bitumen binder content. This results in a void-less application and a long-lasting repair, as it ensures roads are less susceptible to debilitating water pressures and free-thaw cycles.
Due to its success in eliminating the need for further maintenance on the same repair, IKO Road is considered to be a truly cost-effective refurbishment solution. The sustainable aspect being heightened by the fact that all IKO products are UK-manufactured, thus significantly reducing emissions incurred through importation and distribution, as well as reducing lead times. The UK mastic asphalt industry was one of the first to achieve the CarbonZero™ standard. Indeed, IKO has been offsetting the carbon footprint of mastic asphalt projects for more than a decade. Such commitment to environmental performance will be the key to Highways England’s plans to go net-zero for carbon emissions by 2050.
From an elevated section of the M4 motorway at Chiswick, to numerous bridge joints and concrete bay joints on the M25 Motorway network, IKO Road products have been installed on a wide-range of high-profile highways and civils projects throughout the UK.
Wayne Perrin continued: “IKO Road delivers on the company’s mantra: ‘do it once, do it right’. We believe assigning a single-point-of-service division to our highways maintenance and repair products will simplify the product specification process. It will also provide customers with peace of mind that each product within the range – whether it is related to road or bridge repair, or ironwork reinstatements – carries the IKO hallmark for all-round quality and performance.”
