Established in 1979, Shevington Sharks Amatuer Rugby League Football Club is the third oldest club in the Wigan, a club with the community at its very core. Leading the campaign ‘Lets Get Active with the Sharks’, it is the clubs intention to increase physical activity amongst young people within the local area (running until summer 2017).
This project amongst many other initiatives are aimed at increasing participation both in Rugby League and in sport more generally within local community. Family fun days and dinner dances are also part of the annual social calendar.
On the filed the Shevington Sharks boast a number of teams spanning and wide range of age groups from the ‘cubs’ and under 7’s to the Under 18’s and an open age ‘first’ team that currently plays in the Premier Division of The RFL’s Men’s Rugby League competition.
IKO PLC is proud to sponsor such a family orientated and local rugby club – Shevington Sharks, a club that has its root firmly in the local community and continues to push the limits of sporting capabilities.
Man of the Match – June 18
Dan Harrison was The IKO Man of the Match in our game last Saturday v Haydock in the North West Counties Premier Division.
Unfortunately the Sharks with a very young side went down 40 – 24 in game played in very hot conditions.
