Roller Installation
Roller installation refers to a type of application used for a one- or two-component liquid coating to a whole roof, however, roller installation can be used for bonding agents, primers, paints and materials for roof repairs, finishing or detailing. Roof coating rollers are similar to the rollers we are used to seeing for painting and come in short, medium and long-nap to provide consistent thickness and placement. Specialised rollers can sometimes be used to cover uneven seams or surfaces.
Both one and two-component roller installed roof membranes can be specified for cold, inverted and warm roofs of new build and refurbishments projects and for roof repairs. The seamless, cold applied roof membranes are ideal for application in difficult areas.
One-component roller applied roof membranes
One-component roller applied roof membranes are relatively easy and fast to install as they can be usually applied straight from a tin, and allow for a second coat to be wet-on-wet applied to the first are preferred as they can be installed at speed of approximately 250m2 per day. Odourless solutions, where available, are ideal for specification in occupied buildings.
Two-component roller applied roof membranes
Two-component roller applied roof membranes are Poly (methyl methacrylate) based waterproofing membranes that are easier to mix and apply even in poor weather conditions. They are usually applied in two layers with a reinforcement fleece in between.
