IKO Technical Services support the comprehensive range of products that combine to provide complete waterproofing systems for below and above ground level situations, including:
Building regulations require the use of DPCs in masonry wall constructions to prevent the upward movement of water by capillary action (rising damp), water transferring from one part of the structure to another for example at door sills and window jambs and to prevent the downward movement of moisture. In this latter instance, wider rolls of DPC are commonly used such as 450mm and 600mm. When incorporated in masonry walls over items that are bridging
the cavity, such as lintels and brickwork support systems, the DPC is referred to as a cavity tray.
Building regulations require the use of DPMs positioned either above or below solid concrete floor slabs in contact with the ground, to prevent the upward movement of water by capillary action (rising damp). Any suspended floor of in-situ or precast concrete next to the ground, such as beam and block floors, also requires the incorporation of a DPM if the ground below the floor has been excavated below the lowest level of the surrounding ground. In both instances, the DPM should be continuous with the DPC in the walls.
Building regulations also require that the proper precautions be taken to prevent danger to health when building on contaminated land. IKO Hyload hazardous ground gas membranes offer a safe solution for the protection of buildings against radon, carbon dioxide and methane when used as part of an appropriately designed ground gas protection system. IKO Hyload hazardous ground gas membranes also act as DPMs.
IKO Hyload Tanking Systems provide a means of preventing the entry of water from the surrounding ground into a structure at ground level, below ground level (hydrostatic pressure) and on sloping sites.
This waterproofing range consists of Type A Barrier membranes, which form part of structural waterproofing systems designed to be compliant with the guidance of BS8102:2009. Gas resistant tanking protection is also available.
Application methods include brush applied liquid products, self-adhesive and heat bonded sheet membranes.
Building Regulations require that proper precautions be taken to prevent danger to health and safety when building on contaminated land.
